The return to origins, to authentic flavours: mountain life brings with it the rediscovery of ancient traditions, the outdoors, and genuine tastes. Abimis, an Italian brand that hand-crafts bespoke stainless steel kitchens, embraces this philosophy and translates it into projects with a refined, timeless aesthetic, that are functional and customised according to specific usage needs.

Ego, designed by Alberto Torsello with soft, generous lines, and Atelier, featuring more understated and linear details, are the two lines by the brand chosen for residential interiors in St. Moritz and Cortina. These are kitchens that champion the beauty of cooking according to old principles, but with advanced technology and professional features.

In St. Moritz, wooden wall panelling and a herringbone parquet floor embrace an Ego model island, orbitally polished by hand and with contrasting glossy handles: a monolith where the joint-free top, with a non-drip edge, incorporates a flush induction hob. The kitchen's soft shapes, rounded doors, and rounded edges make it feel like a contemporary Alpine farmhouse kitchen around which to gather. The block made to measure by Abimis is the spatial and social core of the home, completed with compartments featuring high-capacity pull-out shelves and a recessed plinth, ensuring maximum ergonomics and functionality.

In Cortina, rough wooden plank walls and furniture marked by mountain folklore are intertwined with a kitchen area dominated by the stainless steel of the Atelier model. This kitchen is structured in an L-shape and custom-made to perfectly fit the irregular space of the dwelling, which was converted from an old barn. The base units house compartments and technical eqipment dedicated to storage and preparation, and one side is topped by an open shelving unit, also made by Abimis, for storing crockery and accessories.

Also in Cortina, a modern chalet frames the Ego model in an island configuration. Solid wood planks, used for the flooring, surface cladding, and furniture, create an intimate and enveloping space that opens up into the kitchen area, which is based on material contrasts that include stainless steel and natural stone. Here, Ego is offered in two different finishes, both embellished with ergonomic brass handles: orbitally polished by hand for the central block and mirror polished for the lowered storage compartment for utensils and dishes, which is placed against the wall. Lastly, the worktop is made of Vals stone, as a tribute to the Alpine location, and includes an integrated sink with brass taps, an induction hob, and a plate with retractable sockets, ensuring maximum performance.

The shimmering purity of the metal thus comes together with warm, enveloping interiors, playing on natural and textured finishes such as wood, stone, and desaturated colours, typical of high-altitude retreats.
