IDD Cologne fair welcomes a fresh voice this year as Möller Design GmbHmakes & Co. KG its debut in the heart of the city. For the company, established in 1987 and known for crafting high-quality beds, the fair represents a unique opportunity to present its collection alongside other German design stalwarts in a carefully curated city setting. 'This is the first time we participate in this kind of fair in Cologne,' explains Winfried Nilling, CEO of Möller Design. 'Cologne is very important for German furniture history, and we thought it was a perfect moment to show our products here.'

Thoughtful approach to innovation
Despite being a small company, Möller Design maintains a clear philosophy: quality over quantity. At IDD Cologne, the company will unveil ten percent of its collection as new, while the rest will feature long-standing bestsellers. 'There are too many products on the market,' says Winfried. 'Dealers already have very good products in their showrooms. We create timeless products, so we don't need to launch dozens of novelties every year.'
This philosophy resonates in the fair's presentation, where visitors can expect to see Möller Design's signature beds and mattresses alongside complementary tables and sleeping sofas. 'We create living beds. They are not traditional box springs. Our designs are a little different, especially cosy and comfortable,' Winfried explains, emphasising the company's focus on enduring quality rather than fleeting trends.

Introducing the Flap bed
A highlight of the debut will be the Flap bed, designed by young Cologne-based designer Peter Vosding. 'This bed is totally different to all the beds we have in our collection and to what we see in the market at the moment,' says Winfried. 'The proportions and bed sides are very generous, and it brings a fresh design perspective to our collection.' Early interest from clients indicates that the Flap bed is already creating a buzz among those seeking something distinct within the bedroom segment.

Curated experience for visitors
The company's IDD pavilion, housed in a historical building dating back to the 1950s, promises a unique experience. 'Our location is very interesting architecturally,' notes Winfried. 'In combination with companies like COR, Ketnaker and KFF, it could be very interesting for visitors, not just dealers but also designers and the public.' The aim is simple yet powerful: leave visitors with a warm, welcoming impression of high-quality products presented in thoughtful surroundings.
While Möller Design's presence at IDD Cologne may attract international attention, the company remains primarily focused on Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. 'We are very small, and our price level is high, so the Benelux market is difficult for us right now,' Winfried admits. Nonetheless, he remains open to potential partnerships beyond these borders if the right opportunity arises.

Vision realised through simplicity
At its core, Möller Design is about creating lasting impressions through considered design. 'Every product we present is important for us,' Winfried concludes. 'We hope that visitors leave our stand feeling good, welcomed, and inspired by our products and styling.'
IDD Cologne may be a new chapter for Möller Design, but its values of timelessness, quality, and thoughtful innovation ensure it is one worth following closely.
