The Range reports strong sales growth and returns to profitability

Home, garden, and leisure retailer The Range has reported a notable increase in sales and a return to profitability for the year ending 2 February 2025. Total sales rose by 13.5%, or £175 million, reaching £1.47 billion, up from £1.29 billion in 2024. Pre-tax profit improved to £541,000, a significant turnaround from the £22.8 million loss recorded the previous year.

The company attributed this success to several strategic initiatives, including the integration of the Wilko website, the opening of a new 1.2 million square foot distribution centre in Stowmarket, and the acquisition of 53 former Homebase stores. While headline gross profit margin slightly decreased to 33.8% from 34.0% in 2024, this was largely due to additional costs associated with the new distribution centre.

Looking ahead, The Range expects the Homebase store acquisitions to contribute approximately £375 million of turnover on a full-year basis. The company continues to focus on operational efficiencies through the consolidation of distribution centres, process streamlining, and automation opportunities. Overall, the business has positioned itself for sustained growth as it expands its store footprint across the United Kingdom.
