Scandinavian retailer JYSK has today opened its first 'compact' store in the Netherlands, located in the popular Maxis shopping centre in Muiden, just outside Amsterdam. At 1,200 square metres, including 300 square metres of storage space, the store is smaller than a standard JYSK branch but, thanks to smart design and taller shelving, offers the same wide range of products.

Frank Christant, Country Director of JYSK Netherlands, Belgium and France, explained: "We would like to open more stores in major cities, where there is often less space available than at our ideal locations. With this compact format we can deliver the same shopping experience on a slightly smaller footprint. If it proves successful, we see opportunities to roll it out further in urban areas."
The Muiden store showcases a broad selection of beds, mattresses, furniture, textiles and home accessories. With styled room sets, atmospheric lighting and a spacious mattress studio for customers to test products, it reflects the latest trends from JYSK collections.
For Store Manager Vincent van Amstel, a Muiden resident, the opening is a personal milestone: "The location is perfect, the accessibility is good and there is always activity. For us, it is an ideal place to introduce even more people to our great offers."
The opening is being celebrated with music, complimentary coffee and pastries. Customers will also find special launch promotions running throughout the week, with discounts of up to 70 per cent.
With the new Muiden location, JYSK now operates 104 stores across the Netherlands, underlining the company's continued growth in the market.
