Nico Tijsen, the creative face of the Dutch interior design brand

Riviera Maison resurrects with renewed energy: "We are back with a clearer story"

After a turbulent period, Rivièra Maison, the iconic Dutch interior brand, is back in the spotlight. During the successful Dutch Interior Days, it became clear: the love for the brand is alive and well. In Barneveld, the company opened a completely revamped showroom of more than 1,200 m², which once again serves as a vibrant heart of inspiration for the home furnishing sector.

According to Nico Tijsen, Creative Director and the creative face of Rivièra Maison, the past period has been one of reflection and rediscovery. "It was a time of reflection as well as renewal," he says. "Especially in difficult times, you are forced to return to the core. For Rivièra Maison that is: atmosphere, emotion, experience. That basis has never gone away, but now we feel it stronger than ever. During the Dutch Interior Days, we saw how many people are still touched by our style. That gives an enormous amount of energy."

Total experience
According to Tijsen, the revamped showroom is much more than a place where collections are presented. "It is a total experience," he explains. "Visitors walk through various settings that all exude the Rivièra Maison feeling: from a cosy city apartment to a summer beach house. Everything is right down to the last detail: the light, the styling, the fragrances. Retailers, stylists and consumers come here not just to look, but to feel what living can be."

Spring and summer 2026
The upcoming Spring/Summer 2026 collection (SS'26) shows a fresh, natural side of the brand, according to Tijsen. "The collection will be light, fresh and above all very natural," he says. "We work a lot with soft earth tones, linen, wood and organic shapes. Outdoor plays a big role; people increasingly want to connect their indoor and outdoor lives. SS'26 feels like a breath of fresh air: soothing, elegant and completely balanced."

Staying true
How does Riviera Maison stay true to itself in a market that is changing at lightning speed? "By always staying true to the soul of the brand," says Tijsen resolutely. "Trends come and go, but a style that comes from the heart always remains relevant. I follow trends with an oblique eye, but always translate them into our own handwriting. Rivièra Maison stands for warmth, recognisability and a touch of romance, which never disappears."

New energy
What inspires Tijsen most this autumn is the renewed energy within the company. "We have so much beauty ready to go; from new collections to surprising campaigns," he says enthusiastically. "But the best thing remains the contact with our customers. When they are touched by an interior we have designed with love, then you know what you are doing it for."

Looking to the future
On the future, the Creative Director is clear: Rivièra Maison will remain Rivièra Maison, but with a contemporary outlook. "More inspiration, more storytelling and an ever-increasing focus on sustainability," concludes Tijsen. "We want to make products that are not only beautiful, but also long-lasting and made with respect for people and the environment. Riviera Maison is back: with more soul and clarity than ever before."
