Soho House has opened its first South American hotel

Soho House has opened its first South American hotel in São Paulo, set within the historic Cidade Matarazzo complex in the Bela Vista neighbourhood. The property, which debuted in July 2024, occupies a restored 20th-century Italianate building and features 32 guest rooms, a gym, a rooftop pool, restaurant, and club spaces.

The design incorporates Brazilian craftsmanship, with reclaimed wood, natural materials such as imbuia and cumaru, and hand-painted tiles. Over 60 works of art by Brazilian artists are displayed throughout, including a mural by Marcelo Cipis. More than 10,000 native plants surround the building, emphasising the city's tropical character.

Dining centres around a courtyard restaurant offering dishes such as moqueca and cassava gnocchi, alongside Soho House favourites like lobster pasta. The rooftop pool bar serves light plates and cocktails, including the "casa verde," a local twist on the caipirinha.

Events and social activities are central to the experience, with guest DJs, drag bingo, talks, and fitness sessions. Rooms, ranging from compact spaces to suites with terraces, are designed to feel like a "home away from home." Nightly rates begin at 3,000 BRL (£450), with access available to Soho Friends and members.
