Spanish rug brand GAN, known for its contemporary handcrafted designs, has unveiled Vanguardias, a striking new kilim collection by celebrated designer Sandra Figuerola.

Defined by explosive geometries and vibrant colour palettes, Vanguardias breaks away from the prevailing minimalism dominating interiors. Instead, Figuerola takes inspiration from the great art movements of the early 20th century, from Dadaism to Futurism and Constructivism, to create rugs and cushions that function as statement pieces.
With bold strokes and oversized motifs, Vanguardias is conceived as "a work of art for the floor," giving colour more prominence than form. "In Vanguardias, I worked intensely with color, seeking a balance between luminous, vibrant, and sophisticated tones," explains Figuerola.
The collection includes rugs and cushions in powerful chromatic versions, including red, green, and multicolour, each designed to transform a room through their sheer visual impact. Crafted using GAN's artisanal kilim weaving techniques, the pieces remain accessible and versatile, while carrying a strong graphic and artistic identity.
"The kilims in this collection are simple, yet capable of generating a great visual and spatial impact. They are meant to become the focal point of any space," says Figuerola.
