GANSK is a Portuguese brand that creates outdoor furniture using artisanal manufacturing methods. The company was founded by designer and sculptor Albino Miranda, and their work is all about modern design shaped by and inspired by organic forms. Every piece is made in Portugal, with textures developed by hand, so no two are ever exactly the same.
For the design brand GANSK, elegance is not about extravagance, it's about balance, simplicity, and purpose. "For us, elegance means balance and simplicity," says José Machado from GANSK. "Modern design is driven by functionality, but it's also about keeping things fresh and relevant."

Inspired by nature, shaped by hand
Nature plays a central role in GANSK's creative process. "Most of our inspiration comes from nature," Machado explains. "It might be the jagged shapes of rocks, the texture of tree bark, or the lines of a landscape." Architecture and sculpture also influence the brand's aesthetic, a legacy of founder Albino Miranda's background as a sculptor, which deeply shapes how GANSK approaches form and volume.
At the heart of their collections is fiberglass, a material that allows for creativity without compromising durability. "Fiberglass is a very special material because it lets us do two things at once: create strong, long-lasting furniture and explore more sculptural, organic shapes," says Machado. "It's light, resistant, and handles the elements much better than wood or metal. That combination makes it perfect for the kind of design we want to achieve."
Each piece is handmade in Portugal. "Everything we produce is crafted by hand, from shaping the structures to applying textures, layer by layer," he adds. "It's a slow and careful process, but that's what guarantees the quality and identity of our furniture."

Sustainability through longevity
Balancing luxury with sustainability is an ongoing challenge for the brand. GANSK approaches it through durability. "Our way of addressing sustainability is by focusing on longevity first," says Machado. "Because our pieces outlast most outdoor materials, they don't need to be replaced as often, which reduces waste. We want our clients to enjoy their furniture for years, not just seasons."
The company also uses recycled fabrics for upholstery and continues to experiment with new materials and finishes to lower its environmental footprint. "We're always looking for ways to improve, to make things more sustainable without losing quality or aesthetics," Machado notes.

Adapting to climate and creativity
Climate is another factor that shapes GANSK's approach. "In countries with short summers or unpredictable weather, clients want furniture that can resist those conditions and still look good after many years," he says. "That's exactly why we use fiberglass and pay so much attention to our finishes, our pieces are made to handle heat, humidity, rain, and cold."
Collaboration is central to the process. "We often work closely with designers and architects," says Machado. "Sometimes it's about adjusting dimensions or finishes, other times we develop something completely new together. Those custom projects are where we really combine our craftsmanship with our partners' creativity."
A Global vision
Looking ahead, the company is set on expanding both its collections and international presence. "We already export worldwide," Machado says, "but we're focusing on strengthening our presence in Northern Europe, the US, and the Middle East. At the same time, we want to keep pushing our collections forward, exploring new textures, designs, and collaborations."
Ultimately, GANSK's philosophy is about making outdoor spaces feel just as refined and personal as indoor ones. "We believe outdoor spaces should be as inviting as living rooms," says Machado. "Our furniture is designed to help people enjoy those spaces, to live with them, not just look at them."
