Flemming Dahl on the inspiration behind the Jersey collection

'For the first time in Europe, ceramic meets solid wood for new furniture'

'European clients are facing tighter budgets, and the market is challenging,' says Flemming Dahl, CEO of Bodahl Mobler. 'Yet standing still is not an option. Innovation is how we move forward.'

Following a successful presentation at M.O.W., where the company achieved remarkable order growth, Bodahl Mobler is preparing to bring its new collection to the Brussels Furniture Fair. 'Our orders at M.O.W. grew by 68% compared to last year,' Flemming reports. 'This is a clear sign that our new designs resonate with the market.'

Europa's first, ceramic meets solid wood
Bodahl Mobler introduced a bold combination of solid wood and ceramic that had not been attempted in Europe before. 'We have created a unique range where ceramic and solid wood are combined, giving designers and clients unprecedented flexibility,' Flemming explains. The combination is both practical and elegant: ceramic provides durability and resistance to daily wear, while solid wood adds warmth and timeless appeal. 'Ceramic works perfectly with wood because it can expand and contract naturally, and it brings our furniture into kitchens and living spaces in a completely new way,' he adds.

In addition, Bodahl collaborated with Danish designer Morton Georgsen, based in Spain. 'Morton designed an entire collection integrating wood and ceramic, which we proudly launched as the Jersey collection,' Flemming notes. The line reflects both aesthetic innovation and practical versatility, appealing to multiple European markets.

Customisation at scale
Bodahl Mobler's approach prioritises adaptability. 'Our system allows clients to choose table tops, leg styles, colours, and edge profiles, resulting in over 100,000 possible configurations,' Flemming says. He highlights that the concept extends to chairs and fabrics, allowing B2B customers to tailor every detail to their projects.

The company manages production across Ukraine, Romania, and China, with assembly and finishing in Denmark. 'We work closely with 12 factories, implementing strict quality control and weekly progress reports,' Flemming explains. 'This ensures consistency across all markets and every piece meeting our standards.'

Closing the circle
For Flemming, trade fairs serve as both sales platforms and market insights. 'At M.O.W., we carefully selected the strongest products from our key markets, UK, France, and Benelux, to showcase,' he says. Strategic selection ensures the collection meets client expectations in core markets while highlighting innovation.

Bodahl also adapts to trends without compromising its core identity. 'When older fabrics or designs are no longer performing, we replace them with new colours and materials,' Flemming notes. 'Staying relevant and responsive is key to sustained growth.'

Reflecting on M.O.W. and future plans, Flemming concludes, 'The main success of the fair is that our new products were well received. This confirms that innovation, adaptability, and quality are what our clients value most.' Bodahl Mobler will carry this momentum forward, showcasing the Jersey collection and other innovations at the upcoming Brussels Furniture Fair, offering designers, architects, and B2B buyers another opportunity to experience the brand's unique combination of flexibility, craftsmanship, and style.
