Homeware sales specifically surged by 12.33%, recovering from a -9.14% decline in the same week of 2024. Store-based sales increased by 5.70%, marking the fourth positive outcome in five weeks, while non-store sales soared by 27.30%, offsetting last year's negative base of -16.66%. Overall, total store LFLs grew 4.14% and non-store LFLs rose 8.43% compared with the previous year.
BDO attributed the growth to strong online sales and seasonal consumer behaviour, noting that fashion and homeware categories posted double-digit growth. Analysts suggested the uplift may reflect a combination of autumnal weather patterns and "cocooning" habits, with shoppers investing in home comforts as temperatures dropped and rain and fog persisted across the UK.
The data highlights sustained resilience in the homeware sector, particularly through digital channels, suggesting retailers are benefitting from both seasonal demand and continued consumer adaptation to omnichannel shopping.
