The reconceptualised imm cologne is preparing to launch the 2026 furniture year with a robust international presence. Approximately four months ahead of the trade fair, exhibitors from 27 countries have already confirmed their participation, with a particularly strong representation from China and other Asian nations. The fair, scheduled from 20 to 23 January 2026 in Halls 4, 5, 10.1, and 10.2 at the Koelnmesse trade fair grounds, reflects the evolving dynamics of the global furniture market.

Themed "World of Interiors", imm cologne 2026 positions itself as a central sourcing platform for consumer-oriented interior design in the mid-range to entry-level segments. According to recent foreign trade statistics, international suppliers are playing an increasingly important role in Germany. Imports from China alone rose by 25 per cent to €1.7 billion in the first half of 2025, while 30 per cent of German furniture imports now come from China. Overall, imports account for roughly 60 per cent of the German furniture market, highlighting the growing influence of global sourcing.
"This is exactly where imm cologne comes in. The strong presence of Asian suppliers confirms the trade fair's continued position as a crucial gathering for the global furniture trade – an event that bridges continents," explains Bernd Sanden, imm cologne director. He adds: "Many of the companies have already exhibited several times at imm cologne. These long-term partnerships create planning certainty – for both sides. Our exhibitors are immediately able to deliver worldwide."
imm cologne 2026 will cover the entire spectrum of the international interior design market, focusing on market-ready, high-demand solutions for furniture retailers, purchasing groups, and online businesses. Asian suppliers will be concentrated in Halls 4.2 and 5.2, reflecting the growing significance of international sourcing. Hall 10.2 will primarily present European home and upholstered furniture, while mattresses and upholstered furniture will be highlighted in Hall 10.1, supporting sectors that have experienced a significant decline in recent months.
The trade fair will also feature a compact programme of events tailored to target groups, providing opportunities for buyers to engage with suppliers, discover new trends, and initiate business deals. The hall layout has been carefully planned to help visitors navigate efficiently and focus on sourcing priorities.
