The merger brings together Bent Hansen's long-standing expertise in upholstery and comfort with Sibast Furniture's heritage in wood craftsmanship and Danish design dating back to the 1950s.
Sibast Furniture confirmed the acquisition, stating:
"The acquisition of Bent Hansen Møbler is being made with an eye to creating an even stronger and more versatile platform that is built on craftsmanship, quality and timeless design. The decision to join forces is based on a shared respect for Danish furniture tradition and a desire to offer customers a more complete design experience."
Sibast Furniture, founded in 1908 by master cabinetmaker Peder Olsen Sibast, was re-established in 2012 by fourth-generation owners Ditlev and Anna Sibast, who now retain 55 percent ownership. Henrik Hvid Hansen, former director and third generation of Bent Hansen Møbler, retains 25 percent, while the remaining 20 percent is held by Stelton owner Michael Ring and businessman Jesper Wadum, with Michael Ring becoming chairman of the board.
Henrik Hvid Hansen commented:
"I am delighted to see the company that my grandfather founded become part of Sibast Furniture. Together we are stronger, and I look forward to continuing Bent Hansen's designs in a new and strengthened context, where the great potential that lies in both companies' heritage and expertise can be realised."
The merger ensures that Bent Hansen's upholstery and comfort expertise will now be fully integrated into Sibast Furniture's DNA, creating a holistic experience for customers and strengthening the combined brand's market position.
In recent years, Bent Hansen Møbler faced financial challenges, reporting losses of around DKK 400,000 in both 2023 and 2024. The acquisition aims to stabilise the business while leveraging the combined legacy and capabilities of both companies to drive future growth.
