A Danish furniture company has reported stable earnings for its 2024/25 fiscal year despite a difficult furniture market. Operating profit reached DKK 6.2 million, slightly below the previous year, as CEO Anders Stampe described the market as "very difficult" with negative consumer indicators impacting demand.

The Herning-based company, Karup Design, which specialises in futon furniture and exports to over 20 countries, credits its resilience to disciplined management, product development, and targeted marketing. Stampe emphasises that "every revenue krone must be fought for," highlighting the importance of careful cost control and strategic investment.
Karup Design is also pursuing growth in new geographic markets, particularly the USA and Southern Europe. While revenue growth has not yet materialised, Stampe believes these investments in organisation, marketing, and product development will strengthen the company for future upswings.
The company employs 18 full-time staff and is owned by five shareholders, including the management team. Stampe notes that while current personnel costs affect immediate results, they position the business to benefit when market conditions improve.
