Messe Frankfurt expands into Central Asia with first intelligent building expo in Uzbekistan

Messe Frankfurt is strengthening its global presence in the Central Asian market with the launch of the Intelligent Building Expo 2026, a first-of-its-kind technical trade fair in Uzbekistan. Scheduled to take place from 20 to 22 May 2026 in Tashkent, the new event will focus on integrated building solutions, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, water supply, lighting, building automation, security technology, and IT security.

"Through our leading trade fair brands Light + Building, ISH, and Intersec, Messe Frankfurt already delivers world-class events in smart building, security, and fire protection technology," said Wolfgang Marzin, President and CEO of Messe Frankfurt. "The Intelligent Building Expo gives us the opportunity to bring selected product areas from these fairs together under one roof, addressing the specific needs of Central Asia while expanding our expertise in the region."

The expo will serve as a professional hub for manufacturers, project developers, architects, engineers, and government representatives, highlighting the latest innovations in energy-efficient climate systems, water management, state-of-the-art lighting, and security technologies. It represents Messe Frankfurt's eighth specialist event in Uzbekistan, following successful trade fairs including Automechanika Tashkent, Heimtextil Uzbekistan, Texworld Tashkent, and Beautyworld Central Asia.

Central Asia, and particularly Uzbekistan, has emerged as one of the region's most dynamic economic markets. With over 57,000 active companies in construction, engineering, and urban development, the country presents international businesses with a high-demand market for solutions in sustainable urban infrastructure. Recent reforms, strong investment growth, and modernisation of cities make Uzbekistan an ideal location for trade fairs targeting long-term industrial development.

Messe Frankfurt is collaborating with its longtime regional partner, Business Media Central Asia (BMCA), which will organise the Intelligent Building Expo under licence, covering both Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The European Union's €12 billion investment package announced at the first EU-Central Asia Summit in Samarkand in April 2025 underscores the region's strategic importance, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and digital connectivity.

The next edition of Light + Building, the world's leading trade fair for lighting and building services technology, will also take place in Frankfurt from 8 to 13 March 2026, further showcasing Messe Frankfurt's commitment to integrated, smart building solutions.
