"After a tough first half of the year, we are finally seeing a break in the trend," said Per Ljungberg, Innovation Manager at Swedish Trade. "The development we have noted in recent months is very encouraging ahead of the important autumn and winter months."
The report also highlights rising foreign competition: 23% of consumers shopped online from abroad, and 13% of total Swedish private online consumption went to foreign e-commerce companies. Ljungberg warned: "Urgent action is required at the EU level. We need competition on equal terms, and Swedish Trade will continue to push the issue until regulatory gaps are closed."
At the national level, Swedish Trade is calling for a task force to collaborate with authorities and businesses to address these challenges immediately.
