On Friday morning, Wonen360 reported that Carpetright Netherlands had been granted a moratorium on payments. The Amsterdam court has now definitively declared the company bankrupt.

Carpetright Netherlands was initially granted a moratorium. Because Carpetright's headquarters are located in Utrecht, the Amsterdam District Court transferred further handling of the moratorium to the Midden-Nederland District Court.
Mr. Sjakko van Raaijen of Okkerse & Schop Advocaten and Mr. Janina Maduro of Holla Legal & Tax were appointed administrators during the suspension of payments. Carpetright has 75 offices throughout the country, employing approximately 350 people.
According to Carpetright's management, the company is fundamentally sound, but the current situation is the result of, in short, recent financial investments and startup problems with the implementation of a new software system, which caused backlogs in the company's core processes. This led to Carpetright's problems.
The suspension of payments was converted into bankruptcy on Friday, September 19th. The administrators will still have to investigate the causes of the situation.
The trustees are investigating whether there are any options to continue the business or whether a takeover or restart from the bankruptcy situation is a possibility. Until this is clear, the stores will remain closed (for the time being).
The administrators request that consumers who have made a purchase from Carpetright that has not yet been delivered and who have paid a deposit not contact the administrators and/or Carpetright. They cannot answer telephone inquiries at this stage. As soon as more clarity is available, the administrators will actively contact customers themselves. Carpetright is CBW-certified.
