Fire hits Danish pallet factory

A fire broke out on the morning of 20 September at Stea, a Danish manufacturer of pallets and packaging, prompting an intensive response from 45 firefighters. The blaze, which started on the exterior walls of the facility, was contained largely due to the rapid intervention of the fire service and the building's firewalls.

Stea's CEO, Kim Krentel, described the outcome as fortunate, praising the fire service for preventing extensive damage. "If you look at the extent of the damage, we have been more than lucky. We can thank the fire service for that," he said. The internal damage remained minimal, with most affected areas confined to the exterior and small sections inside the factory.

The police have yet to determine the definitive cause of the fire.

Founded in 1994 as JF Emballage ApS by Johnny Fiskbæk, Stea employs approximately 70 staff across sites in Engesvang, Hjøllund, and Taulov. The company continues to deliver pallets across Europe and has confirmed that operations will resume while assessing any remaining damage.

The incident highlights the critical role of fire safety measures in industrial facilities, with the building's design and prompt emergency response mitigating potential losses.
