A family-run contract furniture manufacturer in the UK has closed after more than 30 years of operation, citing ongoing "global and financial issues" as the primary reason. The company, which operated a factory in Southbourne and a showroom in London, has engaged accounting and insolvency firm Azets UK to oversee its liquidation.

In a statement the company, Morgan Furniture, said, "After 33 years of design-led manufacturing in the UK, we are unfortunately closing the doors at Morgan." It expressed gratitude to employees, many of whom had been with the business since its inception, and acknowledged the support of clients, suppliers, and external designers.
Morgan Furniture built a reputation for design-focused contract furniture and contributed to numerous high-profile projects over its three decades in business. The closure marks the end of a long-standing family enterprise that navigated multiple market changes, yet could not withstand recent economic pressures.
The company emphasised the "numerous highs" and successes achieved over its operational history, noting the decision was made "with a heavy heart" but recognising the challenges that made continued operation unsustainable.
The closure highlights the vulnerability of smaller, family-run manufacturers in the UK furniture sector amid global and financial uncertainties.
