Design London Shoreditch debuts as a festival hub of creativity and community

Making its debut at London Design Festival 2025, Design London Shoreditch has opened as the central hub of the Shoreditch Design Triangle. The new event spans three dedicated venues, House of ICON, Design Culture and Design at Work by OnOffice, bringing together more than one hundred brands, creatives, installations, talks and events across East London's creative district.

Set within the Grade II-listed Shoreditch Town Hall, House of ICON showcases design and lifestyle brands across grand Victorian spaces and basement chambers. One highlight is 2LG Studio's third iteration of You Can Sit With Us, a curated installation inspired by Oscar Wilde's green carnation, reimagined as a modern emblem of inclusivity through the work of queer creatives. The venue also hosts the Design Discussion talks programme, co-curated by journalist Roddy Clarke, with speakers including Jo Barnard, Gurpreet Arora, Sahra Hersi, Paula Benson and Marc Krusin. Clarke commented: "Today we need connection and community more than ever and this has driven my approach to curating the talks programme for Design London Shoreditch. I want it to be an open and inclusive space where everyone feels their voice can be heard, especially young, emerging talent who might not have the confidence to share their creative views or have access to certain rooms and conversations. In bringing the creative community together, hopefully it can spark meaningful debate and discussion while connecting established studios with fresh talent that could even lead to future collaboration."

At Design Culture, located in Kachette on Old Street, the focus turns to the impact of culture on design. Goldsmiths and Kingston University present student and alumni showcases, while female-led collective Ancient Futures explores ancestry, ecology and sustainability. Artist Ben Cullen Williams unveils Self Portrait, a collaboration with Google Deepmind and Google Arts & Culture Lab, where AI generates its own portrait.

Design at Work by OnOffice, staged at Protein Studios, investigates the future of workplace design, featuring over 25 designers and collectives. Exhibitors include Studio Verb's active chair RIDE, Leandesk sit-stand systems, and British brands Sixteen3 and Isomi alongside international names such as Bisley, Boss Design and BAUX.

Running 16–18 September 2025, Design London Shoreditch is produced by the organisers of Clerkenwell Design Week and the editorial teams of ICON and OnOffice. As part of the Shoreditch Design Triangle, which returns for its 18th year, it reinforces Shoreditch as an internationally recognised hub for creativity and community.
