Luxury kitchen company Tom Howley has unveiled two new limited-edition cabinetry colours – Sumac and Hazelwood, designed to capture the growing appetite for rich, expressive interiors.

The launch follows a marked rise in demand for colourful kitchens, with 66% of sales in 2025 featuring colour-rich cabinetry, compared with 50% in 2024. Both shades are described as bold yet timeless, reflecting the company's ethos of creating kitchens that combine individuality with enduring style.

Sumac – heritage character with a modern twist
Sumac is a deep, earthy red inspired by the richness of velvets, antique furniture and traditional ceramics, while maintaining a contemporary softness.

"Sumac is a deep, earthy-red with just enough softness to feel inviting rather than overpowering," explains Tom Howley, Creative Design Director. "Sumac works extremely well in a colour-drenched room, as a statement island or on a standalone piece of furniture like a dresser or bi-fold pantry. It's a bold choice, but one that pays off by bringing real personality to a space."

Hazelwood – understated depth inspired by nature
Hazelwood is a rich, grounding brown that shifts subtly under different lighting conditions, from warm brown to charcoal grey. It is intended to bring calm and balance to kitchens, while pairing seamlessly with natural materials and neutral tones.

"Hazelwood feels calm, natural and comforting. It has a natural warmth that makes it a strong base for our cabinetry," says Howley. "Brown is an earthy colour, it pairs nicely with lighter neutral tones, timbers finishes and soft metallics - perfect for creating kitchens that feel calm and inviting."

Confident, personal design choices
The new colours reflect a broader shift towards confidence and individuality in kitchen design.

Howley notes: "A colour choice should feel personal, but never fleeting. Sumac and Hazelwood reflect the colours of the season - they're warmer, richer - yet still timeless. They are designed to bring lasting character and depth to a kitchen, regardless of trends or time of year. What makes them feel relevant now is the shift we're seeing in how people use colour at home. There's more confidence, more individuality, and a growing desire to make bold but considered choices. Kitchens can reflect personal style."

He continues: "As well as whole kitchen schemes, both shades are ideal for smaller spaces such as pantries, boot rooms and utility areas. These rooms often have less natural light, so embracing a darker colour can actually make a space feel more inviting, and introduce atmosphere, depth and a more layered design approach."
