Maisons du Monde reports slow recovery amid challenging market conditions

Maisons du Monde posted group sales of €444.6 million for the first half of 2025, down 9.7% from €492.4 million in the same period of 2024, reflecting a difficult market for furniture and decoration. Management noted a "gradual improvement in a challenging consumer environment," with second-quarter performance, particularly in June, surpassing that of the first quarter.

In France, sales reached €238.4 million, declining 10.3% on a like-for-like basis, though the second quarter saw a smaller fall of 8.8% compared with a first-quarter drop of 11.8%. Internationally, total sales of €206.2 million were down 9%, yet Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, and Portugal returned to growth in the second quarter.

Store network sales fell 4.8% on a like-for-like basis over the half-year, while renovated stores outperformed the wider network. Online sales declined 15.4% to €125.2 million, although June showed initial signs of recovery supported by increased traffic through SEO and paid search.

Decorative objects accounted for 52.2% of total sales, with furniture representing 47.8%. Brand awareness and customer satisfaction improved, with NPS rising to 55.6. The group continues to implement its "Inspire Everyday" transformation plan, focusing on partner stores, renovations, and professional customer sales, aiming for €100 million cumulative free cash flow over 2024–2027.
