Homesense and TK Maxx recall unsafe deck chair

Homesense and TK Maxx have issued a recall for the Urban Balcony Wooden Deck Chair, sold between March and June 2025, due to safety concerns. The chair, sourced from Vietnam, poses a "risk of entrapment" as it lacks safety warnings, usage instructions, and a stated weight limit. If the locking mechanism is not properly engaged, the chair may collapse during use.

The retailers confirmed the product "does not meet the requirements of the General Product Safety Regulations 2005." Customers are advised to stop using the chair immediately and return it to any Homesense or TK Maxx store for a full refund.

This recall follows a previous withdrawal of the same product from the Irish market in August 2025, highlighting ongoing safety issues. The company has emphasised the importance of compliance with product safety regulations and ensuring consumer protection.

The recall underscores the need for vigilance in home furnishing safety, particularly for outdoor furniture items that may pose physical risks if not properly designed, labelled, and tested.
