Swedish kitchen manufacturer eyes Danish expansion despite slow start in Copenhagen

A Swedish kitchen manufacturer is renewing its push into Denmark after a cautious start marked by the opening of its flagship store in Copenhagen in 2023. The group, one of Europe's largest kitchen producers, has delayed wider expansion due to economic pressures and a focus on domestic markets but says conditions are now improving.

Marketing and sales manager of Ballingslöv Group, Martin Lundell, said the Copenhagen store has served as "proof of concept" and confirmed the company is "positive about the opportunity to open more sales points in collaboration with the right entrepreneurs". Locations in Aarhus, Odense and Greater Copenhagen are under consideration.

While the Danish arm delivered a profit of 79 million kroner in 2024, the Swedish parent company reported a loss of around 103 million Swedish kronor in 2023. Despite this, the group maintains strong equity positions, approximately 571 million Swedish kronor overall and 527 million kroner in Denmark, providing a solid foundation for growth.

The company, which also owns Danish brands Kvik, Multiform, JKE Design, and DFI-Geisler, remains intent on strengthening the Ballingslöv name in Denmark as it prepares for its next phase of expansion.
