IKEA has opened a new small-format store at Hall Road Retail Park in Norwich, marking its second compact UK outlet this year following Harlow in July. The store, officially launched on 28 August with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Councillor Paul Kendrick, employs 40 co-workers and aims to offer a faster, more convenient shopping experience.

The new format allows customers to explore room sets, shop secondhand items, and purchase home furnishings and small furniture for same-day collection. Planning services for kitchens and bedrooms are also available, alongside IKEA's signature food range.
Milosz Grobelny, unit manager for IKEA Norwich, said the store enables shoppers to access inspiration and products "quickly and conveniently". Councillor Kendrick described the opening as "a significant investment in our city's future", praising the jobs created and the boost to the local economy.
The Norwich opening is part of IKEA's wider UK expansion, with another small-format store planned for Chester and new Plan and Order Points set to launch in Dundee and York later this year. The initiative reflects the retailer's strategy to bring its services closer to communities across the country.
