Arhaus and RH push deadline in trade secrets dispute

Arhaus and RH have agreed to extend the deadline for RH's response in an ongoing civil case alleging trade secret violations. Filed in the U.S. Circuit Court for the Northern District of California, the extension moves RH's deadline from 26 August to 14 October, aligning it with the deadline for former Arhaus executive Lisa Chi.

The complaint, lodged on 24 July, accuses Chi of misappropriating confidential information and breaching a 2022 confidentiality agreement after leaving Arhaus for a role at RH. The suit demands the return of all confidential materials, a reassignment of Chi to a non-conflicting role, monetary damages, legal fees, and a forensic audit of RH's systems.

RH, served with the complaint on 5 August, sought more time to prepare its response. The extension does not affect other court dates or procedural deadlines.

The case has drawn significant industry attention, given the competitive positioning of the two retailers in the home furnishings sector. Both companies have remained tight-lipped publicly while legal proceedings continue.
