Other Asian countries are also likely to face increased tariffs. The exact rates have not yet been announced, and the plan could still change. President Claudia Sheinbaum's budget proposal is expected to be submitted to Congress on September 8. In addition to protecting Mexican businesses from cheap imports, the tariff hike also addresses a request from U.S. President Donald Trump.
