Louis Poulsen returns to growth with record profit surge

Danish lighting company Louis Poulsen achieved notable financial recovery in 2024, ending several years of decline. Revenue rose by seven percent to DKK 897 million, while operating profit surged 54 percent to DKK 177 million, marking the first increase in earnings since 2021.

The management report highlighted "solid growth across multiple markets, despite persistently low consumer confidence and continued geopolitical challenges and uncertainties." Sales growth was largely driven by the Scandinavian market, which contributed DKK 68 million, while the rest of Europe saw modest increases and other global markets remained subdued.

Cost reductions in sales and distribution were cited as a key factor in the improved bottom line. The company attributes success to a strong brand and expanding private customer sales.

2024 also marked Louis Poulsen's 150th anniversary, celebrated with limited editions of iconic lamps such as the Koglen, Panthella and Snowball. The company further strengthened its international presence with a flagship store in Tokyo and a showroom on Madison Avenue in New York.

Looking ahead, Louis Poulsen projects revenue growth of 2–8 percent for 2025, though management warns that uncertainties including geopolitics, trade barriers and low consumer confidence may affect outcomes. The company emphasises the need for agile strategies to attract both new and returning customers.
