A Danish design house, known for its flagship store on Strøget, has entered bankruptcy after years of financial difficulties. The company faced mounting pressure from a challenging designer furniture market and high rental costs. Despite a reconstruction attempt in 2024, sales fell short of expectations, prompting a liquidation sale to repay creditors.

Curator Anders Bendtsen reported that several parties have expressed interest in acquiring the entire company, not just parts of it. 'I have received several inquiries from interested parties who would like to look into taking over the whole thing,' Bendtsen said, noting that two meetings with potential buyers are already scheduled this week.
The trustee overseeing the company, Paustian's, bankruptcy expects to clarify Paustian's financial position once creditors' claims have been resolved. They are also assessing whether management acted appropriately prior to the bankruptcy. Meanwhile, efforts continue to secure a solution that could preserve Paustian as a brand, ensuring its potential continuation in the Danish design market.
