Lars dining furniture recalled over dangerous lead levels

Health Canada has issued a recall for Lars brand dining furniture after tests revealed lead levels exceeding the legal limit in the black coatings on certain metal components. The affected products include the Lars Counter Chair, Lars Counter Wood Top and Metal Base, Lars Tabletop Centre Glass Insert, and Lars Counter Table, sold individually or as part of five- or seven-piece sets.

Lead is highly toxic, particularly for children, and can cause severe health issues such as anaemia, vomiting, brain injury, and organ damage. Prolonged exposure, even in small amounts, can lead to dangerous lead accumulation in the body.

Consumers are advised to "immediately stop using the recalled products" and contact The Brick for guidance. The company can be reached by phone at 1-780-452-7912 (English) or 1-514-685-9421 (French) during business hours, or by email at [email protected].

As of 15 August 2025, no incidents or injuries have been reported in Canada. Health Canada reminds the public that under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, recalled items cannot be resold, redistributed, or given away.

Details of this recall are also available on the OECD Global Portal on Product Recalls for international reference.
