Serena Williams showcases the timeless appeal of black and white kitchens

Serena Williams has demonstrated the enduring appeal of black and white in kitchen design, collaborating with her sister Venus and their interior design firm, V Starr, to create a space described by designers as the "ultimate kitchen colour story." The kitchen features a uniquely shaped island, a gold and white back splash, and black appliances by Officine Gullo, offering a striking contrast while maintaining a sophisticated, curated look.

Designers emphasise the versatility and timelessness of the palette. Cyndy Cantley, co-founder of Cantley & Company, explains, 'There is a reason black and white endures as the ultimate kitchen colour story. It's ever so timeless, more important in a kitchen than any other room of the home.' John Starck of Showcase Kitchens adds that the combination suits homes of all sizes and styles, from minimalist to dramatic, while allowing architectural features and accessories to stand out.

For those not ready to renovate, black and white elements can be introduced through dinnerware, mugs, and storage canisters. Experts agree that the pairing allows flexibility, longevity, and a sense of sophistication, creating a space that remains stylish for years. Cantley notes, 'It's not about chasing trends, it's about creating a space that will feel just as stylish ten years from now as it does today.'
