Garbe Industrial and Logicenters have topped out what will become Europe's largest timber logistics centre in Straubing-Sand, Germany. The €31 million project, spanning 27,000 m², is being built entirely from 4,400 m³ of sustainably sourced wood, cutting CO₂ emissions by 66% while enhancing energy efficiency.

The centre, scheduled for completion in Q4 2025, will feature 26 dock levellers, nine sectional doors, office space, mezzanine storage and advanced green building elements, including a green roof, a 2 MW photovoltaic system, and air-to-air heat pumps. The facility is aiming for Gold Standard DGNB certification.
Strategically located with trimodal transport links via the Danube port, cargo rail, and major motorways, the site offers flexible leasing options from 7,600 m² upwards.
Adrian Zellner of Garbe Industrial said the development demonstrates how "ecology and economy" can be balanced in modern construction, while Martin Ohly of Logicenters Germany highlighted growing demand for ESG-aligned logistics properties.
The project also incorporates natural landscaping and wildlife-friendly lighting, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship while positioning Straubing as a hub for sustainable logistics innovation.
