Flexsteel reports robust growth despite industry headwinds

Flexsteel Industries, a full-line furniture manufacturer based in Dubuque, Iowa, reported continued growth for the fiscal year ending 30 June 2025, marking its seventh consecutive quarter of year-over-year sales increases. Fourth-quarter revenues rose 3.4% to $114.6 million, compared with $110.8 million the previous year, while full-year net sales increased 6.9% to $441.1 million.

Net income for the quarter reached $10.7 million, or $2.03 per share, up from $4.9 million, or 95 cents per share, the previous year. Full-year net income was $20.2 million, or $3.84 per share, compared with $10.5 million, or $2.04 per share, in 2024. Operating income and gross profit also rose, while SG&A expenses decreased proportionally.

Derek Schmidt, chief executive officer, said the company's strategies drove "strong results in the quarter" despite ongoing market challenges and macroeconomic uncertainty. He highlighted growth across core and new markets, investments in product innovation, and improved operational productivity.

Flexsteel ended the quarter with a $40 million cash balance and $110.4 million in working capital. Schmidt noted that while tariffs pose a risk to margins and demand, the company is "well positioned to navigate the new tariff environment" through supply chain adjustments, cost-saving initiatives, and selective pricing measures.
