'I am excited to take on this new responsibility and to continue building on the strong foundation we have established together with our customers in the region. Businesses are the backbone of building more resilient economies across Europe, and a key element of their strength lies in robust supply chain networks, which today are more than just logistics frameworks - they are essential components of business strategy across multiple sectors,' said Haag.
Venter, who previously led DHL Supply Chain Europe, Middle East & Africa, welcomed Haag to his new role: 'Rainer brings a deep understanding of our European customers, markets, and operations. His track record in driving growth, operational excellence and building high performance teams makes him the ideal leader and addition to our supply chain board.'
Haag's career with DHL Group began in 2010 as Director Operations in Spain. Since then, he has built a notable track record across multiple sectors and markets. His previous positions include Managing Director Life Sciences & Healthcare Germany, Managing Director DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps, and most recently CEO for Germany & Alps. In this role, he drove significant growth and oversaw the expansion of the DHL life sciences & healthcare hub in Florstadt, near Frankfurt am Main, into a cornerstone of DHL's global Health Logistics network.
As part of this leadership transition, Haag's former position as CEO DHL Supply Chain Germany & Alps will be assumed by Katrin Hölter. Hölter has served as Chief Operations Officer DHL Supply Chain EMEA since 2022, where she was responsible for operational efficiency and customer service across the region.
With over two decades at DHL Group, Hölter has consistently advanced operational standards. 'Through her extensive operational expertise she has set high standards that manifests the Group's Safety First culture,' the company stated. Her appointment is expected to enable customers to benefit from 'innovative, efficient, and future-ready supply chain solutions.'
Haag's appointment comes at a time when European supply chains face continued transformation, underlining DHL's focus on resilience, innovation and customer-centric strategies.
