For the week ending 10 August 2025, total like-for-like (LFL) sales increased by 4.23%. Homewares led the way with a surge of 25.60%, up from a marginal 0.35% rise in the same week last year. Store homewares sales climbed 20.22%, marking their third consecutive double-digit gain, while non-store sales jumped 15.70%, the category's strongest online result since January.
Overall store LFL sales grew 7.03%, rebounding from a -2.17% base in 2024, while total non-store sales rose 3.38%. BDO commented that "store sales were positive across the board," with lifestyle and homewares also performing strongly online, though fashion retail weakened digitally.
Weather conditions played a role, with the south experiencing sunnier, milder days while Storm Floris brought heavy rain and winds to the north before stabilising later in the week.
Footfall increased by 2.5% compared with last year, with high streets and shopping centres seeing gains of 3.5% and 3.0% respectively, while retail parks recorded a slight decline of 0.1%.
