The Prince and Princess of Wales, along with their children Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 7, will relocate later this year from Adelaide Cottage. Kensington Palace confirmed the move, which is privately funded and not at taxpayer expense.
Over the summer, locals observed Kate browsing a storehouse on the Windsor Estate that sells surplus royal furnishings. Among her purchases was a 24-seater dining table, said to suit the Georgian manor's larger dining and drawing rooms.
Forest Lodge, a 300-year-old property, is undergoing extensive internal and external renovations. Reports suggest the family view the estate as a long-term base after facing "really difficult times" while at Adelaide Cottage.
A Kensington Palace spokesman stated: "The Wales family will move house later this year," underscoring the significance of the transition as the couple establish themselves more firmly in Windsor.
