Deck chair recalled in Ireland over safety risk

Homesense and TK Maxx have issued a recall of the "Urban Balcony Wooden Deck Chair" due to a fault that could cause injury. The recall, conducted by TJX Ireland Unlimited Company, follows concerns reported to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) about an "inadequate locking mechanism" which could make the chair unstable and lead to collapse.

The affected product, model number 43302DECK, was sold under the Urban Balcony brand. Approximately 368 units are impacted in the Republic of Ireland, with sales taking place between March and June 2025.

The retailer advises customers who purchased the item to stop using it immediately and return it for a full refund. The CCPC has warned that the defect poses a risk of physical injury if the chair fails during use.

The recall is part of the company's commitment to ensuring product safety and protecting consumers from potential harm.
