IKEA U.S. has announced plans to open its first store in Alabama, located at the University Place Shopping Centre in Huntsville, scheduled for early 2026. The 46,000 square-foot store will feature fully furnished room settings and offer "local living" solutions tailored to the needs of the Huntsville community.

The store will display 5,000 products, with over 2,000 items available for immediate purchase, including home accessories and small furniture. Larger items, such as sofas and beds, can be ordered online with options for in-store pickup or home delivery. Customers will also have the opportunity to collect qualifying online orders at IKEA Huntsville.
A central planning area will allow personalised consultations with IKEA experts for kitchens, bedrooms, bathrooms, and small-space living. The store will include a Swedish food experience, serving hot and cold favourites such as meatballs, plant-based alternatives, and cinnamon buns.
IKEA Huntsville will also feature an As-is Department offering gently used and discontinued items, supporting the company's sustainability initiatives.
Javier Quiñones, IKEA U.S. CEO, said, 'We are thrilled to open our first store in Alabama to bring the dream of a better home within reach for more people.' John Achillea, market area manager, added, 'I'm excited to bring the IKEA experience and stylish, functional, and affordable home furnishings to Alabama.'
