Poundland has confirmed the next phase of its store closures as part of a wider restructuring strategy following its acquisition by Gordon Brothers in June. The discount retailer has now identified 52 stores for closure out of a total 68, with 13 already shut and 15 more scheduled to close on 17 August.

A further 12 stores are set to close on 24 August, 11 on 31 August, and one in Irvine on 14 September. The closures form part of Poundland's plan to reduce its national estate from 800 stores to between 650 and 700.
The retailer has also begun a large-scale clearance sale across multiple categories, including toiletries, children's toys, and seasonal items, as it winds down online operations and scales back frozen and chilled food ranges.
Under the restructuring, Poundland will close its frozen and digital distribution centre in Darton, South Yorkshire, later this year, and its national distribution centre at Springvale, Bilston, in early 2026. Distribution will be absorbed into existing warehouses in Wigan and Harlow.
Stores closing on 17 August include Bedford, Broxburn, Craigavon, Hull St Andrews, Newtonabbey, Perth, Poole, Sunderland, Stafford, Thornaby, and Worcester, among others. Closures on subsequent dates cover locations across England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
