Italian furniture industry holds firm amid global uncertainty

Interzum Forum Italy 2025 eyes future growth

Despite a challenging global backdrop of market volatility, geopolitical tensions, and slowing economic growth, the Italian furniture industry continues to prove itself a pillar of resilience and a strategic asset within the national manufacturing system.

Rooted in a "deep manufacturing tradition" and supported by "an integrated supply chain and a global reputation for excellence", the sector has maintained its strong international standing, ranking fourth worldwide, even as it adapts to the natural slowdown following the pandemic.

While much of Europe is grappling with weaker consumer purchasing power and prolonged uncertainty, Italy's furniture sector has outperformed. Compared with the overall Italian manufacturing industry and major European competitors such as Germany and France, both of which have seen sharper declines in turnover, Italy's furniture market has shown "greater stability". Notably, total turnover remains above pre-pandemic levels in value terms.

This performance, industry leaders say, reflects "the strength of its industrial foundation, a continued focus on exports, and the industry's enduring capacity for innovation".

Against this backdrop, interzum forum Italy emerges as a strategic platform for the entire supply chain. Scheduled for 4–5 June 2025 in Bergamo, the biennial event is dedicated to materials, components, and technologies for the furniture and interior design sectors.

Positioned to alternate with the flagship interzum Cologne show, the Bergamo edition offers a vital meeting point in Italy for "companies, designers, professionals, and innovators—providing valuable opportunities for dialogue, business, and the exchange of ideas at the heart of a dynamic and evolving market".

The event's format combines a comprehensive exhibition with an informative congress programme. Exhibiting solutions range from Raw Space and Shell Scheme stands to Premium Stand Packages, Boulevard spaces, and an International Pavilion.

According to organisers, the congress will deliver "content as well as informative and educational events, dedicated to addressing the B2B themes relevant to the supply chains". All exhibitors will also have the chance to arrange individual on-site meetings with "leading Italian and European players during the two days of the fair".

This combination of networking, knowledge sharing, and market visibility is designed to reinforce Italy's role as a hub for furniture design and manufacturing excellence—both domestically and internationally.

The Italian furniture industry's resilience, underpinned by its tradition, integrated systems, and global reputation, makes events such as interzum forum Italy a focal point for future growth. With the European market continuing to evolve, the platform offers stakeholders the opportunity to anticipate trends, strengthen relationships, and secure new business in a competitive global environment.
