Avenue Road unveils 12,000 sq ft Dallas Showroom

Avenue Road, the internationally recognised destination for furniture, art, objects, and architectural solutions, has announced the opening of its 12,000-square-foot showroom in Dallas, Texas, its fifth North American location. The expansion reinforces the brand's presence in key design hubs, with the new space designed in collaboration with multidisciplinary studio Bando x Seidel Meersseman (BxSM).

'We are very proud to be joining such a strong art and design culture in Dallas,' said Stephan Weishaupt, Founder of Avenue Road. 'Our presence in Dallas is a big step in the development of the Avenue Road brand. There is a clear sense that authenticity, quality, and craft are qualities that are valued, and we look forward to sharing our design stories.'

Dallas' flourishing cultural landscape and deepening appreciation for architecture, art, and design made it a natural choice for Avenue Road's expansion. Unlike the loft-style setting in New York or the residential town house experience in Toronto, the Dallas showroom celebrates strong materials, natural light, and openness, qualities rooted in the Texas landscape.

BxSM transformed an unremarkable concrete warehouse into a distinctive design destination, drawing inspiration from Donald Judd's industrial-to-residential conversions and Louis Kahn's Kimbell Museum. The space features a central brick-walled courtyard diffusing sunlight to create a striking interplay of light and shadow.

'The task of renovating an industrial building for the display of furniture and objects, in Texas, no less, brought Donald Judd's work in Marfa to mind immediately,' said Robert Seidel, Principal of BxSM. 'Judd prioritised abundant natural light in his restorations, something often lacking in traditional gallery settings. While he favoured soft clerestory light and expansive open spaces, Avenue Road's collection called for dramatic contrasts of light and dark and a more intimate scale.'

Principal Caroline Meersseman added: 'The project's minimal material palette of brick, plaster, and raffia in buff tones, a soft white paint on existing ceiling and trusses, and a refinished concrete floor, are combined with very simple geometries to provide a range of quiet settings to maintain a sense of purity and focus on the furniture.'

The opening also marks the launch of Avenue Road's North American partnership with Brazilian furniture brand Etel, alongside a curated selection of global names including Delcourt Collection, Man of Parts, Tribu, Van Rossum, and 6:AM Glassworks.

With its Dallas debut, Avenue Road strengthens its reputation for integrating design, architecture, and art into immersive environments, offering European design audiences insight into how a contemporary luxury retail space can embody local character while maintaining an international design standard.

The Dallas showroom, located at 2282 Monitor Street, will be open Monday to Friday by appointment.
