Vida, Sweden's largest sawmill group, has acquired three sawmills from Karl Hedin. These are sites in Karbenning, Krylbo and Säter, located in the Bergslagen region. Karl Hedin's two sawmills in Estonia are not part of this transaction; they have been sold to the Estonian company Combiwood. reports Houtwereld.

According to Vida CEO Måns Johansson, the new locations are a valuable addition to Vida's existing 12 sawmills. With this acquisition, the company expands its geographical reach and strengthens its position in the market. The combined production capacity of the acquired sawmills is approximately 550,000 cubic metres per year. This increases Vida's total capacity to 3.3 million cubic metres annually.
The addition of the new sawmills enables Vida to further diversify and improve its product range. Moreover, the expansion ensures closer cooperation with several Swedish forest owners, which is strategically important.
Karl Hedin says he is satisfied with the choice of Vida as the new owner. He emphasises that Vida's corporate culture is similar to that of his own company, with a focus on entrepreneurship and growth. According to him, their cooperation will allow both companies to maintain and further develop their strong position in the timber sector.
