Wickes powers ahead with 5.6% increase in sales and new store strategy

Wickes has reported a 5.6% increase in group sales to £847.9m for the first half of 2025, with retail sales up 6.8% to £634.4m and Design & Installation revenues rising 2.1% to £213.4m. The company attributed growth to higher volumes in timber, garden maintenance and decorating, helping it achieve record market share.

The home improvement retailer noted pricing remained broadly stable, while customer demand surged. It opened two new stores, both former Homebase sites, in Leeds Moor Allerton and Bury St Edmunds, with up to seven planned in total for 2025. Around 82% of Wickes stores have now been converted to its new format, with one refit completed and three more underway.

Wickes is also ramping up investment in technology to enhance the customer experience and support productivity, positioning the business for "profitable growth" in the years ahead.

CEO David Wood said the retailer has "gone from strength to strength" in 2025, citing increased footfall both in-store and online. 'Our growth strategy is working, and we are well placed to deliver further value for shareholders,' he added.
