Euroluce 2025 puts bold light design centre stage

The international lighting design scene took a luminous turn this April as Euroluce 2025—held during Salone del Mobile.Milano—unveiled the newest innovations, forms, and technologies in contemporary lighting. From cordless functionality to acoustic-integrated fixtures, the event showcased a new era of lighting designed to reflect, enhance, and even reimagine the way we experience interior spaces.

Industry leaders presented a diverse range of new and limited-edition products that respond to shifting lifestyle and aesthetic needs. The focus was clear: lighting must do more than illuminate, it must resonate emotionally, perform technically, and integrate seamlessly into evolving environments.

Among the standout launches was Arctic by Artemide, a poetic series of lamps that 'reflect and deconstruct reality, enhanced through their own light, natural light, and the surrounding environment.' This introspective play with reflection and light opens new dimensions in ambient design.

Kartell reintroduced a design classic with the KD28 by Joe Colombo, originally designed in 1967. Reimagined with contemporary materials and sustainable practices, it now 'meets contemporary needs with cutting-edge materials and technology, using recycled materials and a reinterpretation of the light canopy.'

Pushing structural boundaries, Catellani & Smith presented Pòta!, a sculptural installation where 'light is the focal element around which slender, voluminous yet light structures take shape,' embracing an aesthetic of contrast between order and creative chaos.

The marriage of craftsmanship and heritage was at the heart of Zafferano's Lagoon, a wall-ceiling fixture featuring a white ceramic base and hand-crafted Murano glass diffuser, an elegant nod to Italian artisanal excellence.

Multifunctional innovation also emerged in Abstracta's Vika Wall Light, which 'combines acoustic performance with atmospheric lighting, enhancing both soundscapes and aesthetics in offices, hotels, and public spaces.'

Meanwhile, Brokis expanded its beloved Planets series with Planets MINI, offering the same elegance and modularity "in a more compact form," ideal for refined residential and contract spaces alike.

Euroluce 2025 not only showcased cutting-edge design, but highlighted how lighting is evolving into a storytelling tool, one that blends functionality, sustainability, and emotional impact. With continued emphasis on innovation and identity, the event reaffirmed lighting's vital role in defining the spaces we live, work, and dream in.
