Ukranian furniture manufactures saves almost 20,000 Euros by using the sun

A Ukrainian furniture manufacturer has saved nearly EUR19,400 in electricity costs within just 3.5 months of operating a 200 kW solar power plant. Located in Zakarpattia, the company produces tables and chairs, and now covers two-thirds of its 300 kW daily energy needs through solar power.

Founder and CEO of Pavlyk M, Yosyf Pavlyk, said the installation, completed on 1 March 2025, exceeded expectations and came with a payback period of just 1.5 years. The investment was made possible through a UAH 2 million loan from Oschadbank, with the company contributing under UAH 900,000 of its own capital.

Pavlyk explained that rising electricity costs had become a major burden on production, prompting a review of operating expenses. Competing with firms from Poland, Bulgaria, and China, who benefit from low-interest loans, made efficiency a necessity.

The project, supported through Oschadbank's energy-efficiency financing programme for exporters, aimed to reduce production costs rather than provide backup power. Pavlyk called the outcome "almost perfect", crediting the collaboration between the bank, the contractor, and the company.

He added, 'It turns out that our batteries on the roof of the workshops save us electricity at the expense of the sun.'
