Celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, Calia Italia marks a new chapter in its storied design legacy with the expansion of its signature comfort philosophy to the outdoors. Since 1965, the Matera-based brand has transformed relaxation into an art form—blending Italian craftsmanship, innovation, and contemporary aesthetics into every upholstered piece. In 2025, that legacy embraces the open air, with two thoughtfully designed outdoor collections: Pralin Outdoor and Norman Outdoor.

'Comfort doesn't stop at the door,' the company states, as it introduces its outdoor line—a union of tailored elegance and intelligent sustainability. Constructed with high-performance, eco-conscious materials, the collections feature upholstery made from recycled, non-toxic yarns produced through groundwater-friendly processes. The fabrics are breathable, antibacterial, UV-resistant, and mould-proof—engineered for long-lasting beauty under the sun.
The Pralin Outdoor, developed by Calia Italia's in-house team, is a playful reimagining of the popular Pralin from the Gourmandise indoor collection. Its soft, inviting form rests on a painted steel and aluminium base and comes in a range of finishes. Cushions are wrapped in innovative osmotic fabric—"water-repellent, breathable, and completely removable." Optional iroko wood side tables, mobile armrests, and decorative cushions enhance versatility and comfort. The modular design, including the isola daybed configuration, allows for easy off-season storage and supports a circular, sustainable approach.
Complementing it is the Norman Outdoor collection, created by Daniele Della Porta. Described as "lightweight in look yet solid in structure," Norman features a steel frame with refined rope detailing on the backrest and arms. The padded surfaces use the same osmotic fabric, ensuring "maximum comfort and durability, whether as an armchair or a 2- or 3-seater sofa." Its ergonomic, forward-leaning design reflects a modern aesthetic while promoting relaxed posture. Like Pralin, Norman is also easily dismantled, reinforcing Calia Italia's environmentally conscious, future-proof ethos.
