Italy has increased its imports of softwood lumber, including planed timber, during the first four months of 2025 compared to the same period last year, according to Eurostat data. Notable year-on-year growth was recorded in shipments from countries such as Austria, Finland, Slovakia, and Poland.

Additionally, Italy imported a record volume of laminated timber products, including glulam and cross-laminated timber (CLT), marking the highest levels ever recorded in this category during the same timeframe.
This surge reflects growing demand for both traditional softwood materials and advanced engineered timber in Italy's construction and manufacturing sectors.
