Heritage meets innovation as Hampton acquires England sofa company

Hampton Furniture Group, parent company of e-commerce upholstery brand Zofa, has acquired a majority stake in West Yorkshire-based heritage manufacturer of sofas. The acquisition fully integrates Zofa's supply chain by bringing all production in-house and positions the group for future expansion.

Led by founder John Hampton and chaired by former Belfield Group CEO Steve Hampton, the group aims to revitalise the Vale Bridgecraft brand while pursuing white-label manufacturing opportunities for external retailers and designers.

'Vale Bridgecraft stands for true British craftsmanship, and we're proud to secure its future within our group,' said John Hampton. The move allows Zofa, which sells through its online store and showroom at Redbrick near Leeds, to strengthen its offering with greater control over quality and delivery.

Vale Bridgecraft will continue under the leadership of Managing Director Jonathan Robinson, a 40-year veteran of the business, who helped steer the company through its 2022 restructure under Maramar Holdings.

Steve Hampton added that the deal "secures control over production, safeguards British manufacturing jobs, and positions us to scale both Zofa and Vale Bridgecraft with confidence," marking a strategic milestone in the group's growth ambitions.
