Leading property furniture supplier collapses as sector pressures mount

A major UK supplier to the residential and build-to-rent markets has entered administration, with the majority of its 134 employees made redundant following a challenging year for the industry.

Operations ceased after financial struggles intensified, driven by shrinking margins and a downturn in the construction sector, despite efforts to boost efficiency and improve cashflow.

David Phillips Furniture Group, founded in 1998 and based in London, had established itself as a leading provider of furnishing solutions to property professionals and institutional landlords across the UK. Known for its bespoke packages and comprehensive service model, the company was placed into administration on 15 July 2025.

Sam Birchall and Howard Smith of Interpath were appointed as joint administrators after a failed attempt to secure a sale or refinancing. While the group's core trading has ended, its furniture rental division continues to operate during the administration process.

The joint administrators are now actively seeking buyers for the business and its assets, including the established David Phillips brand. Birchall noted the company's "quality, service and scale" and called for interested parties to make contact promptly.
