German kitchen furniture sales rise in May amid cautious annual outlook

The German kitchen furniture industry reported sales of €518 million in May 2025, marking a 4.86% increase compared to the same month the previous year. Both domestic sales (+4.43%) and exports (+5.34%) contributed positively, with the export share standing at 47.04%.

Despite May's strong performance, cumulative sales for the first five months of 2025 showed a slight decline of 1.52%, totalling €2.36 billion across 46 companies with more than 50 employees.

The industry has faced challenges in recent months, with a 6.5% sales drop recorded in 2024. However, manufacturers remain cautiously optimistic due to an improved order situation early in 2025.

The sector continues to closely monitor the construction industry, which heavily influences demand. The Association of the German Kitchen Furniture Industry has called on policymakers to implement short-term measures to support housing construction and counteract negative trends.

Overall, while May's figures suggest a positive rebound, the German kitchen furniture market remains mindful of broader economic pressures affecting the sector's annual performance.
