These figures, published by the Association of the German Upholstered Furniture Industry and released by the Federal Statistical Office, highlight a continuing challenge in the domestic market contrasted by growing demand abroad.
The industry has seen similar trends in earlier quarters, with a 4.6% sales decline reported in the first quarter of 2025. Despite this, the export business has stabilised, reflecting some international market strength.
Industry efforts also focus on future workforce development, with training groups actively shaping education for the furniture sector. Political engagement has intensified as well, with visits from Bundestag members and parliamentary group leaders aiming to support the industry.
Overall, while domestic sales face pressures, the German upholstered furniture industry maintains optimism through export growth and strategic planning for the future.
